Mercor is partnering with leading AI research labs and is looking for software engineering professionals who can help improve AI model performance through technical review and structured evaluation.
This is not a typical software engineering role where you are building customer-facing apps or internal tools. Instead, you’ll be using your experience to assess how well AI systems generate code, explain solutions, and handle technical tasks.
Your work will directly contribute to the training, refinement, and benchmarking of AI systems used in advanced research environments.

Key Responsibilities
As part of this freelance project, you may be responsible for:
Reviewing AI-Generated Outputs

Organizing and Tagging Content

Ideal Qualifications
Mercor is looking for candidates with a solid technical foundation and strong attention to detail.
Required / Preferred Background
- 2+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
- Software Engineering
- Technical Research
- Educational / Technical Content Development
Education
- Bachelor’s degree minimum in:
- Software Engineering
- Computer Science
- Or a related field
- Advanced degree preferred, but not required
Technical Skills
Strong proficiency in one or more major programming languages such as:
- Python
- JavaScript
- Java
- C++
- Or other widely used programming languages
Additional Experience
Candidates should ideally have experience with:
- Debugging
- Testing
- Code validation
- Reviewing technical implementations
- Writing or documenting technical feedback
- Paying close attention to detail in complex engineering tasks
