SQL Developer Contract Job – Remote (UK)

Job Overview

A London-based client is urgently seeking a high-calibre SQL Developer for an immediate contract engagement. This is a fully remote assignment suited to a technically capable professional who is confident working across SQL Server, ETL development, and data-heavy processing environments.

The contract is positioned for an initial 6-month term, with a strong likelihood of extension for the right candidate. This role is particularly attractive for developers who enjoy tackling high-volume data workflows and building reliable, efficient backend data processes under time-sensitive conditions.

The Role

As the incoming SQL Server / ETL Developer, you will be expected to bring sharp expertise in SQL scripting and demonstrate the ability to build stored procedures from the ground up.

The client is currently handling a demanding operational challenge: importing and processing more than 400 files per day without bottlenecks or delay. As such, this position requires someone who can engineer dependable ETL solutions, optimize performance, and maintain seamless data movement across multiple sources.

Contract Details

Location: Fully Remote
Client Base: London
Contract Length: 6 months initially, with a strong chance of extension
Day Rate: £250–£300 per day (depending on experience)
IR35 Status: Outside IR35

Key Requirements

To be considered, you should have solid experience in the following areas:

Building ETL pipelines from a variety of data sources
Designing, optimizing, and maintaining existing ETL processes
Writing stored procedures from scratch using SQL
Strong command of SQL Server and T-SQL
Proven experience in SQL scripting for robust data processing tasks
Confidence working with high-volume file ingestion workflows

Desirable Technical Skills

While not strictly mandatory, the following experience will significantly strengthen your profile:

Exposure to the Azure Data Platform, including:
- Azure Data Factory
- Azure Databricks
- Azure Synapse
Strong Excel capability
Experience building analytics reports and reporting outputs
Solid MSBI expertise, including:
- SSIS
- SSRS
- SSAS
- SQL
- T-SQL
