About the Opportunity
We’re partnering with a major government technology provider delivering critical national digital infrastructure on an exciting opportunity for an experienced Back End Software Engineer.
This is a high-impact role within an Agile delivery squad, where you will design, build, and evolve high-performance, cloud-native systems using Node.js and Microsoft Azure.
The Role
As a Back End Software Engineer, you will:
- Lead the technical design and development of scalable backend services using Node.js
- Build high-performance systems using asynchronous programming patterns
- Architect and manage cloud infrastructure in Azure, ensuring high availability and strong performance for public-facing services
- Automate environment provisioning and infrastructure deployment using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices
- Drive CI/CD excellence by managing Jenkins pipelines and integrating robust automated testing into the development lifecycle
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Jira and Confluence to support:
- Sprint delivery
- Incident response
- Change management
- Contribute to technical decision-making and help shape scalable, secure backend architecture
What You’ll Need
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Current and active SC Clearance (mandatory due to the nature of the government projects)
- Deep expertise in backend development with Node.js
- Frontend familiarity with Angular, including:
- Component architecture
- State management concepts
- Proven experience in Azure cloud design, including scalable infrastructure and environment automation
- Strong hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code
- Strong proficiency with DevOps tools, including:
- Jenkins for CI/CD
- Git for advanced branching strategies
- Jira for Agile delivery
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to:
- Mentor junior engineers
- Lead technical and design discussions
- Work effectively in a fast-paced Agile environment
