About the Job
As an English Audio Transcription Specialist, you will listen to audio recordings and convert spoken dialogue into clear, accurate written text. Your work will help train AI systems to better recognize different accents, speech patterns, tones, and conversational nuances.
You’ll handle a variety of audio content including interviews, podcasts, conversations, lectures, and customer interactions while ensuring high standards of transcription accuracy and formatting.
This is an independent, asynchronous role, meaning you can work on your own schedule while contributing to real-world AI training projects.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Listening carefully to English audio recordings and producing accurate verbatim transcriptions
- Capturing natural speech patterns, pauses, filler words, and speaker transitions where required
- Applying proper formatting, punctuation, spelling, and transcription guidelines consistently
- Identifying unclear or inaudible audio sections for review
- Working with multiple forms of audio content including interviews, discussions, lectures, podcasts, and customer conversations
- Reviewing and proofreading completed transcriptions for quality and completeness
- Managing tasks independently in a remote work environment

- Native or near-native fluency in English
- Strong listening comprehension and written communication skills
- Excellent grammar, punctuation, and spelling abilities
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to follow structured instructions and style guidelines
- Comfort working with different English accents and varying audio quality
- Reliable internet connection and ability to work independently
No prior experience in transcription, AI, or technology is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following experience can be beneficial:
- Background in transcription, subtitling, closed captioning, or stenography
- Familiarity with transcription or audio-editing tools
- Experience in linguistics, journalism, communications, or media production
- Ability to understand diverse English dialects including American, British, Australian, and Indian accents
- Fast and accurate typing skills (70+ words per minute preferred)
- Knowledge of specialized terminology in industries such as medicine, law, finance, or technology
