Who we are Looking For
The ideal candidate should bring:
- At least 2 years of programming experience, preferably in lower-level languages such as C, C++, or Java
- Working familiarity with security vulnerability classification frameworks, including OWASP, CVEs, or equivalent taxonomies
- A grounded grasp of core cybersecurity disciplines, particularly web security and prevalent exploitation pathways
- Strong precision, analytical rigor, and pattern-recognition ability
- Clear and professional written and spoken English communication
- Current residency in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, or New Zealand
- The ability to successfully complete an enhanced background check
Core Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Collaborate asynchronously with a distributed group of highly capable domain experts
- Design, solve, and evaluate technically demanding problems with genuine real-world relevance
- Review and analyze materials for potential vulnerabilities and security-related patterns
- Support AI model improvement by helping refine how threats are categorized and understood
Project Timeline
- The work trial is expected to begin in mid-April
- Strong performance during the trial may lead to an extended engagement of roughly two months
- Specific start dates and scheduling details will be shared closer to kickoff
Interview & Screening Process
Applicants will go through:
- A brief interview
- A questionnaire intended to validate domain-level expertise
If selected, hired candidates will receive payment for:
- Up to 1 hour of onboarding time
- The screening process
- A small set of onboarding videos
Contract Terms & Payment Details
Please note the following engagement conditions:
- This role is offered on an independent contractor basis
- It is fully remote and can be completed on your own schedule
- Project length may be extended, shortened, or wrapped up early depending on business demands and performance outcomes
- Work completed through Mercor will not require access to confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, or institution
- Compensation is issued weekly via Stripe or Wise, based on services delivered
- H1-B and STEM OPT candidates are not currently supported
