At the heart of this evolving framework lies the Pharmacy Technician, a pivotal operator ensuring that each prescription journey unfolds with precision, pace, and zero compromise on accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
Prescription Handling
- Capture and log prescription data into the system with meticulous accuracy, leaving no room for ambiguity.
- Conduct preliminary checks to confirm completeness—verifying medication type, dosage, quantity, and patient particulars.
- Detect inconsistencies or omissions and escalate them promptly for pharmacist intervention.
Order Coordination & Execution
- Liaise with affiliated pharmacies to validate medication availability in real time.
- Supervise the lifecycle of each order—from intake to final fulfillment—ensuring continuity.
- Keep a vigilant eye on delivery timelines, intervening where delays threaten efficiency.
HMO & Payment Assistance
- Support the validation of coverage details, ensuring alignment with policy provisions.
- Aid in assembling documentation required for claims and reimbursement processes.
- Highlight anomalies tied to pricing structures or eligibility constraints.
Inventory Intelligence & Substitution
- Identify viable therapeutic alternatives when prescribed medications are unavailable.
- Relay substitution options to pharmacists for clinical approval before execution.
Patient Communication Support
- Assist in dispatching timely updates regarding order progress—be it readiness, delays, or collection details.
- Ensure all communication remains clear, concise, and devoid of misinterpretation.
Quality Assurance & Record-Keeping
- Preserve detailed, accurate logs of transactions, interactions, and operational steps.
- Adhere strictly to established SOPs, maintaining uniformity and regulatory alignment.
Requirement
- Certified Pharmacy Technician, having completed an accredited training program within Nigeria.
- Between one to three years of practical exposure in a pharmacy or broader healthcare environment.
- Exceptionally detail-driven, with a structured and methodical working style.
- Capable of operating at speed without sacrificing precision.
- Strong interpersonal and coordination abilities, enabling seamless collaboration.
- Comfortable navigating digital platforms and healthcare management systems.
Added Advantage
- Prior experience within high-throughput pharmacy settings.
- Familiarity with HMO procedures, including claims handling and verification flows.
- Exposure to digital health ecosystems or electronic prescription infrastructures.
